SONY XW7000 VERSUS JVC DLA-NZ9
I would be crazy not to do a Report having both of these magnificent models inhouse at the same time. I get asked all the time which is better? This is not an easy question to answer. I am actually fans of both and both will get the job done and then some. Now I will say depending on if you are mainly movies or maybe you do 50/50 Movies and Sports there could be leaning one way over the other. Sony is and always has been the best for sports with the amazing X1 processing and Reality Creation but JVC has gotten very close this round. JVC has always been best in class for black levels making them the best choice for scary/sci-fi movies. Sony is also close this round. I use a madVR Envy video processor so that helps negate any tough decisions between them. I realize many won't invest in one so acting like you don't makes the choice even harder...

As you can see the NZ9 is definitely way bigger. It takes two to hang the NZ9 safely. The XW7000 I was able to hoist up myself. Remotes are similar. I am a fan of both so that could be a "taste" choice. As for 3D which many consider dead these days but not us using the same glasses for both models they're very close as well. I really could not find any huge negatives with either or. Top Gun Maverick looks excellent with both. If you turn on Color Enhancer on the 7000 you get a color boost but I prefer that for Sports (football.) Doing that with Top Gun made it appear as if Tom Cruise fell asleep all day in a tanning bed. Football both look great but I have always leaned to Sony's colors and their motion. Sharpness they are both tick tack but the edge at least for me here does go to the NZ9. Maybe it's the large lens? They are pretty close though so that is splitting hairs. Also this NZ9 I have is a great sample. I would love to witness their new 25th Anniversary model hitting soon. Those wondering about loudness the XW7000 is definitely more silent. The NZ9 once your game or movie is going you really don't hear it. The Sony is hard to tell it is even on. Hanging from the ceiling the NZ9 looks like an impressive conversation starting tank. The Sony more like a consumer "toy" if you will which weighs about 20 pounds less. Yes, the image they display is all that matters...

As for image they look more alike than different. For those trying to decide consider strongly your application. I will say there is NOT the perfect projector out there for 100K or less these days but were close. If the SONY XW7000ES and the JVC DLA-NZ9 had a baby we might actually have it!
