DENON AVR-4311CI RECEIVER
What can you say about a Receiver that has not been already said since it has been out for quite awhile. I seriously feel like I am 5 years to late for the prom here. Without going super deep I will say the MultEQ XT32 Audyssey Calibration is the most thorough I have had the pleasure to set up. The Denon 4311 deserves all the hype it has created. It also gives you the ability to use 11 speakers if you decide to go nuts with Wide and Height speakers. After having the last couple Receivers with XT32 I do know I could never settle with one that does not have it. The 4311's version is very Subwoofer friendly. The LFE levels have never blended so well with movie soundtracks. The 4311 comes with two remotes (not sure what the reason is) but both work well while the "main" one lights up. There is also a direct button to setting speaker levels. I really like that. I can adjust my Center in seconds without having to dig deep into a Set Up Menu. I also like the iPod button. Setting up the 4311 is fairly simple. Nothing to complicated here. I was more excited once I had it up and running to pop in some of my favorite movies. Of course it does help to have good speakers and the BG Radia speakers I am Reviewing sure help make a difference. For the majority of this Review I used the Denon's AMP but I also used the pre outs for some. I also like the fact that it has a pure Pre AMP mode. I wish other brands would follow this cool feature. The GUI is just like the 4810 which I reviewed awhile back. There are so many options and adjustments. Again it resembles the Death Star with all its power and controls. I added a few pics of the GUI below. Just keep in mind as long as you take your time and just read the screen you should have it set in no time. Music and Movies both have never sounded this good. The 4311 surpassed all my expectations in the sound department. I truly feel like I missed out on a fine Receiver at its peak. What will Denon do next???

I have had fun checking out the 4311. I promise not to wait so long next time to check out another Denon AVR. Maybe I will grab a 4520 when it debuts? The 4311 does plenty well enough to be a Receiver you can keep for a long time. It has adequate video processing (I believe it is using the ABT 2015 chip) which does not hurt the image at all. The newer Onkyos do beat it in that department but still overall it is done really well. The Denon's XT32 surpasses the Onkyos. If we could just combine the two we would have the perfect Receiver! Still the 4311 does its main "job" which is sound as good or better than the best available today. I certainly see why the Denon faithful are so loyal. The 4311 is one of the best Receivers released to date. There is nothing I can really add that has not already been said. I am speechless...
