COLLECTORZ MOVIE COLLECTION REVIEW
I get asked by a lot of people who read my Reviews about my movie storage. Where do I keep my movies? How do I offer guests the ability to pick from my collection? Does it take a long time going through all my movies in a cabinet? Well back in the day I used to use a roller deck which was divided into sections based on movie categories. I would go online and print a pick of the cover art and paste it on each card. It was very time consuming to say the least. Fast forward to 2012. I finally decided to get with the times. I started looking for an app which would catalog the movies. I started and ended with CLZ or Collectorz. I have a newer 128 GB iPad and an iphone 32 GB both of which share the same collection. I pass them back and forth using their CLZ Cloud (pic below) which makes things too easy! So how do you add movies? Read on...
The above images (using an iPhone 5) show how I can upload or download my collection through their cloud and also add movies. I love using their barcode scanner. Nothing easier than scanning the barcode and seeing the movie pop up (after you hear the beep) and then selecting collection. The process takes seconds. You can also enter the movie by its title and a bunch of cover art options will appear. It's really cool to enter a title and see a part two coming in 2015 or so. The pics to the right show browsing options. Either by cover art or category or from A to Z. You can also enter a title in the search bar. I am impressed how sharp and clear the cover art looks.
Very easy to enter titles. For example I scanned the barcode for Enter The Dragon and typed in its title. Nice results! You can also expand the movie entry to show different formats like Blu ray and DVD.
These other screens show the iPad (which is the sweet spot) and how amazing it looks. There is no limit of what you can do. Change the display the way you want it to look. You can add or edit genres, add where it was purchased and its price, rating, etc. You can even document who has it if you loan it out!
Also down below (last couple pics on the right) shows how CLZ Movie Collection looks on your PC. You can also upload and download from the cloud using the PC. It coincides with the iPad and iPhone so you can tweak from any device and all will reflect your changes after using the cloud. Now that is convenient!
Another cool option is for each movie you also have a collection status feature. Here you can note whether the movie is for sale, on order or also add a particular movie to a wish list. I like seeing what is coming out in the next few months then add it to my CLZ. It is very easy to keep track of. For example I have Ironman 3 Blu ray 3D, Man of Steel Blu ray 3D Hangover 3 and The Heat in there... Coming soon!
Keeping track of your movie collection has never been easier. Just the other night we had guests over and instead of having them look through my larger collection (pic below) it was way easier handing them my iPad. They were able to pick a 3D movie from the 3D section and a comedy from that genre. Speaking of my vast collection I have collected a couple thousand Blu ray, Blu ray 3D and DVDs. I did get many for free back in the day when I used to Review new release titles. I keep all of them in my back room (behind my screen) and they are in alphabetical order and in special sections. For example I have a 3D section, a Holiday section and a Horror section. The rest of the movies are in the General section. Then I have a TV collection area. It is pretty easy for me once a guest picks a movie they're in the mood for. Whether its a New Release (I have a section in my CLZ for those as well which stay for a month before going into their designated genre) or 3D or Horror or anything else I can find it in under a minute. I have been looking for a great way to organize all my titles on my iPad and other devices. CLZ has ended my search. Try them today!
